Setting and aligning goals

Rowland Ekemezie edited this page Sep 28, 2016 · 2 revisions

We've found that weekly goals help teams stay motivated.

In the open source world, since contributions can come in so many forms, the weekly goals you set for yourself and your team can come in many forms. With a newly formed team, especially when the team is contributing to a larger project, goals might not come in the form of PRs right away. Some weekly goals we've set within our own teams have been things like, Triage 10 issues with 'help wanted' tags in the repo, or Run through tutorials and document where you run into problems, or Reproduce 5 bug issues. Get creative in the short-term goals that you set.

As you set these goals, talk with your team members to find out what their personal goals are and adapt your weekly goals so that they align with those of your members as much as possible.
