Strongbird is an Android application with a single, focused purpose; to be a powerful and easy tool to aid weight trainers when following the StrongLifts 5x5 lifting regime by Mehdi Hadim.
- This regime has a tight set of rules that requires a great deal of logging and understanding to be followed correctly. Our Strongbird app sets out to deal with all the administration so that you can focus on what you need to focus on; lifting heavy, heavy weights, three times a week. To understand Strongbird, you must first understand Stronglifts 5x5:
- Requires three training days a week
- Revolves around five compund exercises using barbells.
- Uses alternating A/B workouts.
- A: Squats, Bench press, Barbell rows
- B: Squats, Over head press, Deadlift
- Goals:
- Be able to lift the required sets and repetition.
- If the above succeeds, up the weight next time you do this exercise.
- Avoid:
- Failure to lift the required sets and repetition.
- Failing three workouts in a row on an exercise triggers a deload. -10% weight next time
- Three deloads triggers a set adjustment on this exercise. Lowers volume: - If 5 sets then 3 - If 3 sets then 1
Strongbird lets the user keep a close eye on progression by using the camera app to take progress pictures which are then aggregated (10 most recent) in the gallery. This makes for easy comparison of muscle development over time.
Strongbird also allows for recording form check videos and bonding these videos to the corresponding exercise for easy viewing later.
