Development Setup

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18 or higher
• Python 3.12.0 or higher
• pyenv (recommended for Python version management)

Client (Vue.js Frontend)

# Install dependencies
cd client
npm install

# Start development server
npm run dev

Server (Python Backend)

# Set up Python environment
cd server
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use: venv\Scripts\activate

# Install dependencies in development mode
pip install -e .

# Set up environment variables (create a .env file)
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env with your API keys

# Start the FastAPI server
python main.py

The FastAPI server will start on http://localhost:8000. You can access the API documentation at http://localhost:8000/docs.

Required API Keys:

• Google Maps API key
• OpenWeatherMap API key
• OpenAI API key

Scripts

• npm run client:dev - Start the client development server (runs on http://localhost:5173)
• npm run client:build - Build the client for production
• npm run client:preview - Preview the client production build
