The web is, without a doubt, the greatest invention to date. Its ability to provide access to the world's knowledge and facilitate cultural exchange is astounding. It's a new frontier that has only just begun to be explored, and it also serves as a new medium for storytelling, which I believe we've only just begun to scratch the surface of.
As an individual contributor, I'm enthusiastic about technologies that allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible with the web. Currently, I'm particularly excited about Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). These technologies allow for greater access for people with limited network capabilities, provide a native-like experience, and help disrupt the app store duopoly, further solidifying the web's role as the greatest mechanism for information dissemination.
I've been a programmer longer than I've been a manager, and as such, I'm actively learning, developing, and honing my style. A few core aspects of who I am that naturally translate into my management approach are empathy, ownership, and allowing room for dissent.
I'm originally from San Diego, California, USA, and currently live in Portland, Oregon, USA. I'm an ambivert who needs alone time to recharge. Two of my favorite ways to do so are being alone in nature and riding long stretches of road on my motorcycle.
