This reverts commit 56b254e. (#2816)

Pull Request check-list

Please make sure to review and check all of these items:

  • Do tests and lints pass with this change?
  • Do the CI tests pass with this change (enable it first in your forked repo and wait for the github action build to finish)?
  • Is the new or changed code fully tested?
  • Is a documentation update included (if this change modifies existing APIs, or introduces new ones)?
  • Is there an example added to the examples folder (if applicable)?
  • Was the change added to CHANGES file?

Description of change

Scheduled tasks have strong references assigned to them by asyncio. The documentation mentioned is a mistake and is being removed. Furthermore, as mentioned in a comment on the original pull request, these local assignments are not enough to avoid garbage collection.

python/cpython#91887 (comment)

Also see: python/cpython#106203 and Rapptz/discord.py#9472 where the author of this pull request tried to submit a PR for a functional no-op similar to this one and was correctly rejected.
