Project Goals:

The package in this repository was built for PSRC data staff to make it easier to create Census data summaries and visualizations in R. The users are expected to have used R several times in the past to complete their work.

In general, the data science team is working on developing a set of tools for working with Census data. We’ve realized over the years that we have variety of data users and needs, and there isn’t really a one-size fits all approach, so we need a toolbox. The tools will make it easier to find, download, summarize, statistically analyze, prettify, visualize, and map Census for data in our region at any chosen geography. The tool suite includes: a point and click tool to automatically generate tables and maps, a set of SQL functions to analyze data within ArcGIS and Elmer, and an R function package for using R with Census data in our region.
