This change removes some remaining Python 2 and Python < 3.6 syntax. These changes were applied with `pyupgrade --py36-plus`.

This change removes some remaining Python 2 and Python < 3.6 syntax. These changes were applied with
pyupgrade --py36-plus.Also switched to
unittest.mockand dropped the third-party dependency onmock.
