So this doesn't change anything in stm32l496.csv apart from whitespace?

I'm afraid I don't understand why we need to add spaces to this file now. If you can't see it easily, why can't you load stm32l496.csv in Libreoffice Calc/Excel or some other spreadsheet package where you can view it nicely without adding a bunch of spaces?

If you're happy to take the csv file out I can merge in your scripts/pinutils.py changes though - I can see it's a pain if a file does have spaces and that breaks things.
