it does not work for a workspace,
and with a working-directory it does not commit

Oh yeah I didn't make it commit for workspace as npm didn't seem to either from my testing. I'm now regretting that choice as it doesn't make as much sense. It should work in workspace in sense of updating it's package.json though.

Maybe I could utilize postversion hook to enable this behavior
