Additions & Changes / Overview

This PR is a "first step" on updating Grimworld CE patches to 1.6 and current defName compatibility. Currently it covers only Hammer of the Imperium and will be purely focused on maintaining CE compatibility. Balance changes will come later, once everything actually works, ditto for Regiments of Renown and Dead Men content.

Not that I want these addons to feel "left out" or to say that they will never be updated, but for now, maintaining a tighter scope on the patch project and splitting it up into smaller PRs will make it more manageable, compared to the last pass which got messy and feature-crept with additional balance changes.

This will probably take a while because I do not want to burn myself out (again) by grinding my face against it too hard, so contributions from others are welcome; leave comments here with uploads, make sub-PRs, or ping me on the CE discord @arcalanec (though be warned I don't check it very often). Comments here will be the fastest way to get my attention.

References

Checklist

  • Strip out all ROR & DM content from the Hammer modpatch folder
  • Strip out other removed content
  • Old Hammer Armours and Apparel
  • New Hammer Armours and Apparel
  • Old Hammer Weapons
  • New Hammer Weapons
  • Old Hammer Turrets
  • Old Hammer Vehicles

Notes

  • Enginseer and Kasrkin helmets were given smoke protection equal to their tox protection, and a degree of nightvision.
  • Core Imperialis ranged and melee weapon patch files were disabled, as the weapons were disabled in CI.
  • Core Imperialis krak grenade and meltabomb were patched using my work from Grimworld Core/IG/SM/Chaos Patches #3836. Necessitated copying out textures due to file placement.

Testing

Check tests you have performed:

  • Compiles without warnings
  • Game runs without errors
  • (For compatibility patches) ...with and without patched mod loaded
  • Playtested a colony (specify how long)

A tiny bit of feature creep for the krak/melta stuff and disabled weapons in CI, but this is otherwise done to my satisfaction. Mostly just a lot of repathing, and purging some old patches that are no longer used (sawnoff shotgun got removed, as did the sanctified guns, and some lasgun variants). Balance checks come later.

Not thoroughly tested.

Would it be possible to address #4071 in this too?
I think #4231 wants something too but it appears to just be a desire for general fixes that you seem to already be working on.
Thanks for your contribution 🙏

It is a "known issue" that I do want to untangle eventually, but, again:

ED: Looks like it's been taken care of anyway.
