Vision for the Site

What is the purpose of the app?

The purpose of this app is to facilitate the discovery and exploration of Los Angeles by the patrons of the Metro. The app will display the local attractions of the city at any given Metro stop. This will give locals and tourists a streamlined path to discovery.

Who is this app for?

Locals

• People who live in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas who want to be a tourist in their own town.
• They want to explore new things, discover interesting places and take advantage of all the adventures the city they live in offers.
• They know the area they live in but Los Angeles is a big city that changes often.

Tourists

• They want to see very specific things and go specific places.
• They probably have an itinerary and limited time.
• They don't know the area and need a guide.
• They have probably done some research but are open to making interesting discoveries.

Families

• Families whether local or tourist have specific needs based on the fact that they have children.
• Their options and the choices they make about where to go and what to see are often based on cost, time limits and interest from a child's perspective.

Why will the User come to the site?

• Ease of use
• Accumulated resources in one place
• Possibility of a new discovery
• Impulsivity - A User may be at a location and have some time to spend in an area they are unfamiliar with

There are many static sites to find information but no accumulated data at the tip of your fingers.

The main use for the app will be as a phone app but it is also useful as a website to be used to plan ahead.
