Setting up Gmail account for SMTPS

In this configuration instruction, Gmail is used as the SMTP provider. You can use the steps shown below with other SMTP service providers.

Set two-step verification

In order to use SMTPS with your specified Gmail account, you must enable two-step verification on your Google Account.

Set app password

You must create an application that is linked to your Google account and save the generated password, to use it for authentication for SMTP.

Configure the server configuration file (server_settings.json)

The configurations are loaded into the application at start-up. Any configuration updated or inserted into the configuration file require the application to be restarted to be processed by the application.

Enable two-step authentication

The server comes pre-configured not to use two-step authentication by default. To enable/disable two-step authentication, modify the field below.

Configure the email used by the SMTP service

To configure the email address used by the server for SMTP, modify the field below in the configuration file.

Configure the password of the email used by the SMTP service

To configure the password of the email address used by the server for SMTP, modify the field below in the configuration file.

Configure the SMTP service server address

The server is pre-configured to use the Gmail SMTP service server address by default. To configure the SMTP service server address, modify the field below in the configuration file.

Configure the SMTP service port

The server is pre-configured to use the 587 port by default. This port is used by Gmail to perform SMTP operations using TLS encryption. Do not enable SSL if this port is selected for the Gmail SMTP service. To configure the SMTP port number, modify the field below in the configuration file.

Configure the SMTP service to use SSL

If SSL encryption is prefered, this can be enabled/disabled by modifying the field below. You must follow the SMTP service provider's instructions regarding what port number must be used and what properties that port number provides.
