Current state of the project?

Thank you for your work on bringing LLVM source-based coverage support to the kernel! It would be cool to see it go upstream eventually, so I was wondering if it's still being worked on? I see that a v3 of the patch was in the works, but nothing new comes up in the kernel mailing lists, and the repo hasn't been updated for almost a year.

@elkcl We are still on it.

The upstream was blocked by a llvm linker (lld) bug exposed by the patch set. @jinghao-jia and @whentojump have more info (they spent weeks digging into that).

We heard from Nathan Chancellor very recently that the lld bug is no longer there. @chuckwolber says that he will test it soon (thanks Chuck!) and hopefully make the patch set through this time.

I am developing a series of fixup patches to address missing noinstr that are causing static analysis objtool warnings. Then a v4 patchset can be submitted.

Awesome, thank you! As a datapoint, I have successfully built linux v6.17-rc6 with the v3 patch (from whentojump/linux-mcdc) using clang 21.1.0-rc1 and was able to boot and collect some coverage reports
