Go to here and add the exceptions to windows defender through the windows shell commands it provides to you: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases If you are running third party antivirus, then you must add those paths yourself to it. Include the directory you plan to download EP to. It should be a sub directory that only EP is in, not the downloads directory that all downloads are stored in. It can be a sub directory inside the downloads directory. Then download the latest release from here: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases Then do the following:
One thing is that if you want the windows 10 taskbar, it will not be changed to it right away. Open up EP Properties application, go to taskbar, and set taskbar style to Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher), not Windows 10. We no longer offer more support on the stock Windows 10 taskbar. |

So, in other words, I should leave it as it is if it's working properly right now? Because, that seems like a lot of steps to go through to upgrade if I don't need to. Or, are there things in the newer version that I really should have running? |

No, you should upgrade because the EP version you have installed is for an older build of windows. |

I'm sorry, one last question: just to ensure I understand what you mean by step #4 -- You think it best that I go ahead and upgrade to Windows 24h2 as part of the EP upgrade, just to avoid having to do this again later when my system automatically upgrades to 24h2? |

No, you don't have to upgrade to windows 11 24h2. You can stay on windows 11 23h2. But when you do upgrade to windows 11 24h2, you would follow these steps. |

So, it just dawned on me today that I hadn't updated ExplorerPatcher in forever. I'm currently using version 22621.3296.64.1 and everything seems to be working as intended; however, you never know what might be an issue that I'm just not noticing.
Anyway, my question is whether you all think I'll have any difficulties or weirdness upgrading to the most latest version of ExplorerPatcher. The version of windows I'm using right now is Windows 11, 23H2, 22631.5909.
Thanks!
