Execute a custom hook/action after a deploy/revert

Is there a way to wire a custom hook or run an external command after a deploy and/or revert?
I would like to launch dbicdump to update the Perl classes after the database has changed.

There is not (See #96), but you can create your own CLI that does it. Something like

set -e
psql "$@"
dbcicdump

Then configure Sqitch to use it instead of psql with

sqtich engine alter pg --client ./bin/psql_n_dump

If you only want to use it yourself, and not require others to use it, put it into ~/.sqitch/sqitch.conf instead using sqitch config --user:

sqitch config --user engine.pg.client /path/to/psql_n_dump

However, isn't a wrapper against deploy a better solution?

sqtich deploy && dbicdump

this way I ensure that dbicdump is executed only if the deploy does not fail and, on the other hand, a problem on dbicdump does not make sqitch to fail a deployment. Am I wrong?

I'd probably put the hook on the verify rather than the deploy.

Most people deploying sqitch are going to be running it in some sort of pipeline, so they'll already have the tools to kick off a post-deployment hook after the migrations finish, I'm not convinced it needs to be integrated into sqitch.

I think so? The -e should cause the script to exit if sqitch fails without calling dbicdump, and if the latter fails the actual deploy won't. But it will prevent the next change from being deployed. I suspect you'd rather have it run after all the changes have been deployed, not each change? Would explain your thinking in #96.
