Traffic Intersection Monitoring System with OpenVINO

Hi Dan and Yiwei,

I'm Teena Chowdary, a third-year student in Data Science and AI at IIIT Dharwad, and I'm excited about applying for GSoC 2025 with your project “Traffic Intersection Monitoring System with OpenVINO.”

I've started working with OpenVINO and object detection models and plan to build the proposal around real-time traffic monitoring, violation detection, and a GUI using PyQt.

I’d love to ask a few questions to get your guidance:

• Do you foresee performance bottlenecks when running multiple detection + tracking pipelines simultaneously, and is model quantization (e.g., INT8) encouraged in this case?
  -Should the application work with live video streams like IP cameras, or are prerecorded videos sufficient for the scope of this project?
• Would tracking each vehicle across frames be necessary for violation detection, or would zone-based detection be sufficient?
