Why no events returned?

Maybe I'm missing something but no errors are showing up in the logs. I'm trying to run a very simple script to test event functionality but I don't see any events being reported. Why?

It seems no events are visible anywhere after being sent to the events endpoint. What could be the cause of this behavior?
