My goal of using a financial tracker is being able to determine what I can afford in the future. To achieve that, I currently have an excel sheet with expected future transactions and expected account balance.
The way the feature works is by allowing the users to enter recurring future transactions and determine the frequency.
For example,
1- monthly salary income
2- monthly housing payment
3- monthly savings
4- monthly expenses (phone, utilities, insurance,…)
5- weekly expenses (groceries, entertainment, shopping, …)
6- quarterly bonus income
7- …
These transactions will show on the balance graph, probably with a different color to indicate that they are forecasted, which the expected balance showing when hovering over the curve.
Those forecasted transactions will not be automatically converted to actual transactions, but the users will have a choice to actually do so manually.
For example, if I estimated that I will spend 500$/€ this week, the final actual amount will eventually vary, that’s why it is not needed to be automatically converted. On the other hand, if I know that my salary is exactly the same every month or my mortgage payment is the same, then a 1-click “Convert to Transaction” would be very useful.
Cheers!
