ESPHome `wifi.reboot_timeout` not working

I just ran an isolated test here:

1. Set wifi.reboot_timeout: 15s, LibreTiny 1.9.1
2. Flash
3. Wait for it to connect fine
4. Kick the device out of the router
5. It should reboot in ~15s, but it never does.

PS: I ran the same test for api.reboot_timeout and it works, so the issue is exclusive to wifi.reboot_timeout.

I've setup a wifi hotspot on my phone and allowed the device to connect, then I disabled the hotspot.
The behavior seems to be correct - after 10s the device rebooted.

I can attach the serial log that shows it.

Could you answer the following questions:

1. what exactly do you mean by: "Kick the device out of the router"?
2. do you use dhcp, mdns, captive portal, is AP mode configured?
3. which wifi channel is your router on?

Could you show the full yaml you are using? Or, could you try it with the one above (without the debugging options)? Just to eliminate the possibility that something in your config prevents the reboot.

After posting my yaml I remember about one other network-related issue: #316 . It is supposed to be solved by defining LWIP_DHCP_DOES_ACD_CHECK=0 (as in my yaml). Tou can see if it helps for your case.

In OpenWrt there's an option in Luci to Disconnect a wireless device. However, disabling the AP like you did also produces the same effect for me.

Wow, it's the AP! Removing wifi.ap "fixes" it.

Let me check this with ESP32 just to confirm this issue is only with LibreTiny...

This problem is not related to LibreTiny. I can reproduce it with ESP32.

• Reported wifi.reboot_timeout does not do anything when wifi.ap is enabled esphome/issues#7222
