How to serialize a single node

The current serialization only seems to work on XmlDocument.

const doc = XmlDocument.fromString("<xml></xml>");
const xml = doc.get("/xml")
const xmlstring = xml.toString();

Here xmlstring will be literal [object Object]
Is there any way to serialize only a specific node?

I added this monkey patch to nodes.mts inside the XmlNode class and now the toString method does what I expect it to do.

    toString(): string {
        if (XmlNodeStruct.type(this._nodePtr) === XmlNodeStruct.Type.XML_ELEMENT_NODE) {
            const handler = new XmlStringOutputBufferHandler();
            // @ts-ignore
            (this as XmlElement).save(handler);
            return handler.result;
        }
        return this.content;
    }
