What happened

I downloaded version 5.8.0 yet when I launch you show me this:

Only option is 5.14.0, which didn't work because everything wanted Torch 2.7 which was incompatible.

What you expected to happen

An option to install the version I want.

I did download the latest, and I have tried to install two apps and both got stuck on Step 1 Install Conda for hours.

There is no install conda step, we haven't used conda in aeons. What is the version number in the top-right corner of the launcher?

Comfy UI and Invoke AI both try to Install Conda.

It doesn't say anything on the top right, but if I click on Settings:

I do not know what application is in that screenshot - that's not the Invoke launcher. The invoke launcher is the one you download from here: https://invoke-ai.github.io/InvokeAI/installation/quick_start/#step-2-download

To update it, download it from this link and overwrite the existing exe file.

Sorry, I was confusing Pinokio also doesn't work after my hard drive crashed. What do I type in for Invoke for a version?
I tried v5.8.0

Then it says:

Starting up...
Failed to get pins for version v5.8.0: Failed to fetch pins

What version do I put in for Manual to run version 5.8.0? I know that version worked before my external drive crashed.

The latest launcher (v1.6.0) supports Invoke v5.10.0 and above only. If you want to manually install an older version like v5.8.0, you'll need the v1.5.0 launcher. You can download it from the releases page: https://github.com/invoke-ai/launcher/releases

I tried to download the old version and you update it for some reason. Why can't 5.8 launcher install 5.8?

There is no such thing as the v5.8 launcher. The launcher is a separate application.

The launcher isn't meant to be a way for you to install any version of Invoke. It's meant to be an easy way to install the current version and keep it up to date. You can review the linked release notes and git history for the launcher to better understand why v1.6.0 of the launcher cannot install v5.8.0 of Invoke.

How do I install 5.10.0? v5.10.0? Is the old launcher available?

5.10 predates Invoke launcher, so you won't be able to install 5.10 by using it. You still can install v5.10 manually by using this guide https://invoke-ai.github.io/InvokeAI/installation/manual/#walkthrough

But i still recommend installing latest Invoke version unless you have a specific hardware requiring older PyTorch.

I installed 5..0.0 - 5.8.0 with the launcher, so I don't know why you say 'Predates the launcher'.

Where can I download the old launcher? You install doesn't let me switch versions, so I don't know why it says 'Select Version'. Put a combobox threre is what Select Version should be. Your new versions don't work.

I uninstalled all my python versions, installed Python 3.12 and with ChatGPT's help got this to run. I have to use a bat file and run it without the launcher, but it works.
