Extension reloads host page

I just saw this here on GitHub. I stayed on the page and did nothing, and it kept being refreshed. This stops when the extension is closed. So for some reason,the code that does this executes not only when the extension loads but more often.

Of course, this pops up constantly when I'm not looking and then never, when I investigate. However, in the course of working on this I reduced the stream of messages to and from the extension a little. Maybe that also already helps.. 🤷🏻
