If you try b15, make sure to use the workarounds:

• from borg2 create crashes if there are a lot of unchanged files #8785 (or apply the fix from chunks cache fixes (master) #8784 if you have a source-based borg2 installation).
• from borg2: KeyError: 'value_format_name' #8795

I have a source-based borg 2.0.0b15 installation(pip install borgbackup=="2.0.0b15").
Use case: I am working on adding borg2.0.0b15 features in Borgmatic (specifically enhancing passphrase handling)
Below attached screenshot is the error (also when I run borgmatic --verbosity 2 , there is always an error getting local borg version)

Check the issue tracker, it is fixed in master, but not released yet. A workaround is to use Cython < 3.1.
