Parts of page content vanish when typing while selected text in code box

Now double click 123 to get it selected and start typing.
Result: the whole page gets empty. All content removed.

There’s a confirmed bug in TriliumNext 0.94.0 where text selection highlighting isn’t visible, especially in code boxes. This can make it seem like nothing is selected or that content is being dragged, and may cause unexpected behavior when typing with text selected. The root cause is likely the upgrade of CKEditor in this release. Some users have found that switching the theme can temporarily restore visible selection and help avoid the issue. A fix is planned for the next version—keep an eye out for updates. More details are in the discussion here.

@hulmgulm , can you confirm whether it's an issue of the selection being invisible? You can test it on the TriliumNext theme to confirm.

The selection is visible. It also happens with the TriliumNext theme. If I select some text in a code block and start typing, the whole page content goes away. Sometimes I have to do it twice to reproduce it.

Could you please provide a video and perhaps the frontend logs (Ctrl+Shift+I and look at the Console tab).

What you cannot see in it is, that after selecting the text in the code block, I just start typing. On the first try, you see a blinking of the note and a loss of the cursor position. On the second try, the text vanishes.

@hulmgulm , I tried reproducing the issue on both the latest develop and on the release and it's not reproducible for me.

Can you check that you don't have any scripts that might interfere with it? Such as the old syntax highlighting plugin (not the built-in one).

If not, can you check if you can reproduce the issue by downloading the .zip version of the release and running trilium-portable.bat?

I cannot reproduce it with portable Trilium and my current installation. But when I replace the document.db with this one https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/xd3ebrjp5ee0zp2yfe2ap/anonymized-full-2025-06-06T182900.db?rlkey=imet944v6b832j63mhq3v2xpn&st=sh2wjyo4&dl=0, I can.

I'm not aware of any syntax highlighting scripts. How can I find them?
I only have two widgets. Removing "#widget" from these notes still allows me to reproduce this issue.

Weirdly enough, I could reproduce it once on the anonymous database and could not reproduce it afterwards.

Can you show me the output of the following query in the SQL console on your database where it doesn't reproduce?

I wonder whether a rogue syntax highlighting is causing the issue.

Sorting these arrays, I see quite some differences:

I don't know of the relevance of them.

My DB is quite old. It origins from Feb 2022, when I started using Trilium.

FYI: I still see this issue with develop docker container.

Apparently the key to reproducing this issue is to have the floating toolbar, the fixed toolbar doesn't seem to trigger this error (or it's much more difficult).
